Dear Madam and Sir,
At the heart of what we do lie teachers and learners.
We made a great beginning last year with the launch ‘Pearson Teaching Awards’, wherein we recognized and awarded India’s best teachers. We are all set to take the campaign forward this year.
Here are the highlights:
  • This year, in the run up to the Awards, we are helping students and learners of all ages (grown-ups and young students) to thank that special teacher in their lives through ‘Pearson Thank Your Teacher’ (www.pearsonthankyourteacher.in)
    .

  • Teachers who get thanked will get an automatic invite to participate in the ‘Pearson Teaching Awards’.
  • There is no last date for sending Thank You messages via ‘Pearson Thank Your Teacher’.
  • The last date for entries for the ‘Pearson Teaching Awards’ is Friday, August 30, 2013 (subject to extension based on response received).
  • The ‘Pearson Teaching Awards’ event will tentatively be held by end of this year.

Looking forward to your enthusiastic participation!

Pakistan's First Oscar

It's being called "Pakistan's Oscar," but 33-year-old filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will be the one bringing the award home.
The Karachi native's latest film, "Saving Face," which chronicles the lives of acid attacks victims in Pakistan and the doctor working
to help them, made history Sunday night at the 84th Academy Awards by winning Pakistan's first Oscar ever. The film was co-directed by American filmmaker Daniel Junge, and will air on HBO on March 8th.
Obaid-Chinoy accepted the award for Documentary Short Subject on stage and dedicated it to
"all the women in Pakistan who are working for change – don't give up on your dreams."
